How to Get the Most Money Back for Your Used Car

When you are ready to buy a new car one of the first things you have to do is sell your old one. This can be a tricky situation because you want to ensure you get the most money back for your used car, but you want to sell it quickly so that you don’t have to be paying for two cars. Here are some tips for getting the most money back for your used car.

  • List your car for more money than it is worth. Don’t be way far off, but do list your car above its value. The reason you should do this is because people always want to barter, and if your car is listed for more than it is worth, you are more likely to arrive at a price that is within your expectations.
  • List your car in all the right places. While you can definitely place an ad in your local newspaper, utilizing the Internet is a better way to ensure more people see your listing. It is also easier for shoppers to compare used car prices in the UK to your vehicle.
  • Sell your used car privately. This is because a dealership is not going to give you nearly as much money as some random person off the streets. In most cases, the trade-in value of your car doesn’t even come close to half its actual value.

You should realize that selling your used car may not be easy. People are going to do an online car valuation and will want to negotiate on the price. Make sure you have done your research, too, and that you follow these tips for getting the most money back for your used car.

Life After a DUI Conviction

There is a lot of talk in the media and amongst friends about what happens after a DUI conviction. The problem is a lot of what the media or friends say is wrong. This false information can lead to fear and confusion if you are facing your first DUI conviction.

To avoid the strong emotions that come with a DUI conviction, you should research some of the facts behind what life is like after the conviction. Here’s a look at some consequences and things states require people with a DUI to do.

Install a DUI Device in the Car

Some state laws require those who have received a DUI conviction to install an Interlock DUI device on their car. This device requires that the driver blow into it. If the driver has a blood alcohol count higher than the legal limit, the car will not start.

Attend Alcohol Rehab

Some laws require DUI offenders to attend some type of alcohol addiction treatment. This usually applies to those that have received more than one DUI conviction, but it can vary depending upon the case. Options for alcohol treatment can include in- or outpatient rehab or attending AA meetings.

License Suspension

Every DUI conviction will result in the suspension of your driver’s license. The time limit for how long the suspension lasts be will dependent upon on how many DUI convictions you’ve had in the past. The time limit can vary from a few months to years.

New rules after a DUI conviction will vary depending upon your state’s DUI laws. However, by knowing what to expect after your conviction, your life will be less stressful.

Your Auto Accident Settlement

As unpleasant as it may sound, you should always make sure that you are prepared for an auto accident. Accidents are an unfortunate reality when it comes to driving a car, and they can happen to anyone—even if you’re adhering to all of the rules and driving defensively. Here are a few tips that will help you stay prepared.

In order to make sure that you are able to get the full auto accident settlement in the event of an accident, you should always make sure that you get the information from everyone involved. This includes their name, vehicle make, license plate number, and most importantly, their insurance information. In addition to recording personal details, you should also make sure that you always take the time to take a picture of the accident scene—especially if your car is damaged in any way. A picture will also help your lawyer in the courtroom. Preparing the information from an accident ahead of time will make it a lot easier to find the best personal injury lawyers Los Angles has to offer!

Aside from recording details and taking pictures of the scene, you should always make sure that you mention any of your suspected injuries to the police. This will make sure that your injuries are recorded on the accident report that the police fill out. Having your injuries recorded can go a long way if you need to take your settlement case to court. A judge will often place less weight on injuries reported after the scene because it’s easy to falsify them after the fact.

Getting Rid Of That Old Car

There are many things that you can do to get rid of your old car, and upgrade to a newer one. One option is selling your car as a private seller, which will help get the money needed for that new car, helps to alleviate the dealership hassles, and will make the process easy by putting a no pressure deal together. However, this can take some time.

Trading your car in at a dealership is what most people do. However, dealerships need to make money, and they often fail to give you the BlueBook price for your vehicle. While it may be faster, you will lose money in the process.

An option you may not have considered, or known about, is donating your car to charity. Few people realize how beneficial the last option really is.

Kars for Kids is an organization that helps you donate your car, and informs you who this donation will be benefiting. There are many tax benefits that go along with this type of donation, and it helps you to get one step closer to that new car. When you go to purchase your new or newer car, now you can do it with the feeling that you have helped a charity.

This type of process is not one that has immediate monetary benefits, but when tax time rolls around, you can deduct the full amount of your donation from your filing, increasing your tax refund. This is essentially a win-win situation. You will get a nice tax break, which you wouldn’t have received if you had sold or traded in your car.

Depending on the car, the value, and the condition, you could find that your tax benefits of donating your car to charity far out-weight the immediate monetary benefits through a traditional sale.

How to Use Your Car for Money Without Selling It

Many people think of their home as a resource which can be mortgaged if money is in short supply, but they don’t usually realize that an automobile can be used the same way. Indeed, since far more people own a car than own a home, auto refinance loans may be a better – and widely-overlooked – source of additional income when used for debt restructuring and debt consolidation. With every little bit of money needed these days, everyone should look into this.

On a direct level, refinancing an auto loan can make paying for the car more manageable. You may take out a loan at a certain interest rate or for a certain period of time, but then later you find another lender with better rates. Perhaps they charge less interest (lower monthly payments) or offer a fixed rate (no unpredictability) or give you more time to pay off the debt. Not to worry! You can take out another loan, this time with the new lender, and use that to pay off the old lender. Some lenders can even contact others directly for a discounted “pay-off” rate to satisfy the debt. Or if time is running out on your auto loan, you can refinance and essentially extend the duration of your loan, since the new loan carries its own repayment time-frame.

Furthermore, you can use a loan on the value of your car to pay off other debt; this is known as “debt consolidation.” Many debts carry high interest rates because the risk to the creditor is greater; with an auto loan, the lender gets your car if you don’t pay the money back, so the risk is lower and so is the interest rate. By paying off the debt with high interest rates using the money from the auto loan, you can reduce what you spend on interest each month and save money. Your car can be a real financial resource—so use it.

How teens can get a car

For most teens, the best part about turning 16 is the freedom to drive a car without being given a ticket for under age driving. Cars have a lot of ‘cool’ factor about them. The bring popularity at college and tons of fun and freedom. However, buying a car is not a piece of cake for most adult, much less teenagers. So when your teen starts insisting on having a chat on getting car, what do you do?

Rich parents often end up indulging their kids instead of making a stand. Even if you can afford a flashy brand new car, chances are that your teen will crash it within a few weeks! Not to mention the fact that, having everything served to them on a silver platter doesn’t really add any sense of responsibility to their character. On the other side of the spectrum are parents who are too deep in a financial crunch to be able to afford a car themselves so they can forget about buying one for their teen no matter how much they whine and crib!

The third and usually most effective method is to ask your teen to save up half the money required to buy a car and promise to pay the deficit when they have saved enough. This way, you encourage the teen to work and earn for the things they want and at the same time don’t disappoint them with an out right ‘no’. You should be careful to set an upper limit for how much you will pay though as teens can often find miraculous ways to save up huge amounts of money when they get down to it! Having contributed half the cost of the car, your teen will feel proud to own it and will take better care of the car as they have put in a lot of hard work to acquire it.

Buying a Used Car

There are several things you need to consider before buying a used car. The first thing you need to think about is where you are at financially and what you can afford. When you find a car you may be interested in, get it checked thoroughly. If you don’t know a lot about cars, you may want to take a relative or friend with you who understands more about them and can help you make the right decision.

Don’t rush into your decision. If you are not sure about the car, don’t buy it. Take time to think over your options. You will want to take the car for a test drive. Make sure you are testing the breaks as well as the power and how well it drives uphill, downhill, and on a flat road.

If there is something broken on the car, you might be able to get the seller to fix it before you buy it. If you are not sure about the car or you feel like you would be spending more than what it is worth, do not buy it.

Research the car you are interested in. look up the make, model, and year and see if the seller is selling it for a fair price. The car should be clean, but if it is not, that does not mean that it is damaged. Learn how to negotiate. Even if they already have a price set for the car, they might be willing to lower the price in order to sell it.

Learn about lemon laws. These laws protect you for a short amount of time if you were sold a car that does not work or if the deal was illegal or unfair. If you are not sure, or if you are being pressured into buying a car, do not hesitate to walk away. There will always be other deals.

Internet Rumors at its Best

Rumors are what keeps the internet population running. All it takes is one small video and the whole internet population is abuzz over what it could mean, what is happening and what it means. This is evidenced by what happened when the Internet got a hold of a video containing Mark Ecko designing a customized car.

An internet video surfaced on the Wall Street Journal of the hip hop clothing designer and maker, Mark Ecko getting his Nissan personally customized at a car customization shop. While this would traditionally not have caused a massive internet buzz, this video contained what many Nissan and Ecko fans have been waiting for for more than four years.

In 2006, Mark Ecko was asked by Nissan to customize a Nissan Pathfinder. The car did extremely well on the market due to its unique customization and the fact that it drew in car fans as well as hip hop clothing fans. Ever since this collaboration it has caused many people to rumor that Mark Ecko would be asked back to design another Nissan. These rumors were only speculation until this video.

While this video might have gotten many Ecko fans and Nissan fans excited for a future collaboration with Mark Ecko, it is the speculations over what Mark Ecko would design in a second car that attracted the most debate. Many fans of Ecko clothing believe that he will stick to the typical designs that he uses on his clothing and transfer it over to the Pathfinder. Others believe that this could be a chance for Mark Ecko to show off his skill at designing and really veer away from his traditional design.

Neither Mark Ecko or Nissan has commented on whether or not there will be a future collaboration. However, this is just another example of how rumors can spread quickly through the use of the Internet.
